Purpose of Establishment

With the increase in new kinds of legal disputes and the expansion of judicial exchanges with other countries, it can be said that the judicial environment is rapidly changing. In order for the judiciary to respond to these kinds of changes, guarantee the people's accessibility to the justice system, and fulfill its social conflict resolution and integrating duties, which surpass the conventional conflict resolving functions of such systems by expanding judicial action into welfare and guardianship, research from various points of views on judiciary policies and systems are necessary. The Judicial Policy Research Institute has been established as an independent research institute in order to plan appropriate policies and engage in research on new solution plans by organically and synthetically combining adjacent fields of studies, conducting systematic research on judicial issues related to preparation for unification, performing comparative studies on foreign justice systems, expanding judicial exchanges with foreign countries, and taking a leading role in influencing the international justice system.
